South-West monsoon has further withdrawn from more parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab on Monday, while conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal from more parts of West and North-West India across Gujarat; Rajasthan; Haryana; and Punjab; and some parts Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir during next 2-3 days.

Wall of rain, torrents

But the process, as expected, is running into a wall of rain/torrents towards the eastern and southern parts of the country with India Meteorological Department (IMD) declaring formation of a fresh low-pressure and likelihood of that of a monsoon depression over the Bay of Bengal later this week, a possibility flagged last week itself by businessline in these columns.
