An investigation into a fatal crash has closed a major Hollywood street and a 101 Freeway offramp Monday morning.

The solo motorcycle crash was reported around 4:15 a.m. on the Gower Street offramp from the northbound 101 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but an officer at the scene said the rider may have been exiting at a speed that caused them to lose control.

The unidentified rider was pronounced dead after the crash. Video showed a white canopy covering the crash scene.

Officials closed North Gower Street between Franklin Avenue and Yucca Street as well as the 101 Freeway offramp during the investigation.

The roadways were expected to reopen around 8 a.m.
