In an appearance at a Spanish movie festival, Angelina Jolie said that she doesn’t “recognize” the United States.

She was asked by a member of the press at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in northern Spain what she was "afraid of as an artist and as an American" in regards to a "concerning period" surrounding free speech in the United States.

“I love my country, but I don’t, at this time, recognize my country,” she responded after considering the "very difficult" question for a few moments.

The “Changeling” star also said that she and her family have always spent time living abroad while mentioning she understands that censorship can be “very dangerous.”
