Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse football team was fined $25,000 and reprimanded by the ACC for faking injuries in the fourth quarter of its 34-21 win over Clemson on Saturday.

The league said that Syracuse “violated the spirit of the injury timeout and fair play” and that the fine was the maximum allowed by the conference’s bylaws.

The incident occurred with 9:25 remaining in the fourth quarter. The league said that two players were involved in faking injuries and there was action taken by a coach in Syracuse’s sideline area that indicated they were instructed to pretend they were hurt.
