Hurricane Gabrielle rapidly strengthened on Monday and became a major Category 3 storm with 120 mph winds.

The National Hurricane Center expects Gabrielle, the second hurricane of 2025 in the Atlantic Basin, to pass to the east of Bermuda tonight.

It will not directly affect the United States but could cause deadly rip currents along parts of the U.S. East Coast, forecasters said.

There is a chance Gabrielle could strengthen even more and become a Category 4 storm with winds as high as 130 mph, according to the hurricane center.

The hurricane center was also tracking two other tropical disturbances, both of which could become tropical depressions this week.

One of those will have to be watched closely by those along the East Coast.
