MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Medina County Coroner released the cause of death for the man who died after an “officer-involved critical incident” last week in Brunswick.

Dr. Lisa Deranek said the man, whose name has not been released, died from cardiac arrest.

His body was transported to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office so they can determine what caused the cardiac arrest. Results are not expected for several months.

Around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, officers responded to the BP gas station at Boston and Pearl Roads after a terrified clerk called police for help.

A man was taken into custody and Brunswick firefighters transported him to the Brunswick Cleveland Clinic for injuries suffered prior to his arrest.
