A 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Berkeley area early Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey .

The quake, which hit at approximately 2:56 a.m., was centered two miles from Berkeley and occurred on the Hayward fault.

No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
