Southern University evacuates students at Fisher Hall; no threat to campus

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Southern University announced that a building on campus is currently being evacuated.

According to the university, out of an abundance of caution, students should avoid Fisher Hall and the surrounding areas until further notice.

It should be noted that there is no threat to the campus.

Southern University released the following statement:

Out of an abundance of caution, Fisher Hall and the surrounding area are being evacuated immediately. We ask all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to avoid the area until further notice. The safety of our campus community remains our top priority. We will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. Any course(s) held in John W. Fisher Hall will meet in a synchronous and virtual modality until further n
