CINCINNATI —

A man has been charged with assault after allegedly kicking a man after he had been shot following a dispute over food stamps, court documents say.

According to a Hamilton County Municipal Court affidavit, Gregory Barber, 57, was in a dispute with the victim over food stamps that turned from verbal to physical.

Officials allege during the fight, Barber told an unknown suspect to "shoot the [expletive]" before the suspect pulled a gun from a backpack and shot the victim in the face.

Court records say Barber then kicked and stomped on the victim's face while he was on the ground and defenseless.

Officials say they obtained information from the victim's statement as well as digital evidence.
