NEW BRUNSWICK – Augusto Perez, who has served as foreman as work progressed at Liberty Street Park over the past 11 months, wants everyone, everywhere, to know that as of this afternoon, the park is open.
That’s because he has often been interrupted by passers-by asking the same question over the past few months.
“They all want to know, ‘Are you open yet?’ ” Perez said last Thursday, as he and a few workers were putting the final touches on the city’s first downtown park bordered by Liberty, Bayard and Neilson streets. “They all have dogs. I can see them with their dogs. They’ll stop me and ask, ‘Are you open yet?’”
As of 1 p.m., the park is open to dogs, their humans, kids and whoever wants to just come by and enjoy the sun-kissed New Brunswick morning.
