The Braves sustained their first loss of the season, a 35-20 setback to Sussex County rival Sparta. Newton held a 21-20 lead entering the fourth quarter. Nick Kurilko rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns, and receiver Evan Cotter ran for 91 yards and caught three passes for 137 yards in the loss.
