Wayne Matthews left Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in an ambulance but there have been positive updates since.
The Michigan State linebacker who suffered a scary injury in Saturday’s 45-31 loss at USC was released from the hospital and traveled back to Lansing on the team’s charter flight.
Matthew provided his own update via social media on Sunday afternoon, writing “Thank you for all your prayers and support! I’m doing a lot better now! I’ll be back in no time.”
The injury to Matthews occurred in the second quarter when he took a high shot while attempting to tackle USC running back Waymond Jordan. Trainers cut off his jersey before placing him on a backboard and carting him off the field to the ambulance waiting in the tunnel.
