A growing Derbyshire village could become home to a further new-build housing estate . Plans from Wheeldon Brothers Ltd have been submitted for land off Moor Lane on the southern side of Kirk Langley, two miles from Derby.

The village has been expanding rapidly in the past decade with the approval of numerous new housing estates – the most recent a 53-home site off Ashbourne Road on the eastern side of Kirk Langley in February. In its new application to Amber Valley Borough Council , Wheeldon Brothers says its 49-home application was made “in direct response to the Government’s drive to significantly boost the supply of new homes and to address the recognised shortfall in housing land supply (including affordable housing needs) in the borough of Amber Valley”.
