Tracking the tropics: AM Sept. 22, 2025

FOX 35 Storm Team Meteorologist Brooks Garner gives us a look at the latest developments in the tropics as Hurricane Gabrielle is expected to rapidly strengthen. Garner is also looking at two other disturbances in the Atlantic.

As Gabrielle blossoms, the NHC is also keeping its eyes on two other disturbances that are being monitored for potential tropical development.

What we know:

In its 9 a.m. update, the NHC said Gabrielle was about 195 miles southeast of Bermuda. The hurricane is currently moving north-northwest at 10 mph.

Gabrielle's sustained winds have increased to near 120 mph, making it a Category 3 hurricane. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center, and tropical-storm-force wind
