A person was killed in a Monday afternoon shooting in Central City, New Orleans police said.

The shooting occurred in the 2700 block of LaSalle Street. Police were called to the area at around 11:59 a.m. and, after arriving, officers found a male victim who had been shot.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, where they later died. Police did not provide the victim's age.

The shooting is still under investigation, and NOPD did not provide further information.
