As of Sept. 15, all North Carolina state parks are at least partially open with the reopening of Mount Mitchell State Park . And just in time for leaf peeping season.

The Citizen Times previously reported on the reopening of Mount Mitchell, marking the first time the park has been accessible to visitors since Tropical Storm Helene swept through Western North Carolina. The reopening coincides with the Blue Ridge Parkway reopening between milepost 382 in Asheville and milepost 355.3.
