CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — University of Central Florida (UCF) offensive line coach and Charleston native Shawn Clark has passed away. He was 50 years old.

Clark died weeks after suffering from a medical episode earlier in the month.

Clark played football at Appalachian State where he was a two-time All-American offensive lineman, before working his way up the college football coaching ladder and becoming his Alma Mater's head coach. Clark enjoyed success while at the helm, boasting a 40-24 record and taking his team to four bowl games during his tenure.

He continued coaching in college football after becoming an offensive line coach at UCF, where he worked until his death.

Clark was born and raised in Charleston and graduated from George Washington High School.
