KALAMAZOO, MI –– After an unforgettable season, Western Michigan hockey is still receiving its flowers.

Fresh off winning its first-ever national championship, the Broncos remain on the top of college hockey entering 2025-26 as the top-ranked team in the USCHO preseason poll –– which was released on Monday afternoon.

It’s WMU’s highest preseason ranking in program history.

Western Michigan gathered 921 points and an impressive 29 first-place votes to take hold of the NCAA’s top spot, as Boston University (907 points), Michigan State (877), Denver (840) and Penn State (820) filled out the top five.
