Five years after her body was discovered, RCMP are again turning to the public for help in the mysterious death of Erin Chelsea Borgford.

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit is asking the public or anyone who knew Borgford, 27, to come forward and speak with investigators.

On Sept. 20, 2020, at 5:14 a.m., Vernon North Okanagan RCMP received a report of a vehicle fire on Louis Estates Road, just off Westside Road. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze, then discovered human remains inside the gray 2014 Nissan Rogue.

Officers secured the potential crime scene, and called for support from major crime investigators. After an autopsy and notification of next of kin, investigators confirmed the remains were those of Borgford.
