MATTHEWS, N.C. (WBTV) - A proposed data center was on the table for the town of Matthews in North Carolina.

If the proposed data center, titled Project Accelerate, gets the green light, it would sit on 123 acres of land near I-485 and East John Street in the Mecklenburg County town. The project is a joint venture between developers Crosland Southeast, Crow Holdings, and Engineered Land Solutions.

Town commissioners were expected to get an update on the proposal on Tuesday, Sept. 23, after a Sept. 8 meeting left some people with questions and concerns.

WBTV talked to people about the proposal, and they had mixed opinions on whether the data center would help or hurt the town.
