STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) — The Georgia Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust recently held a ceremonial grant signing that recognized the Georgia Southern University Research and Service Foundation.
The trust, led by Trustee Kevin Tanner, has a combined total of $3 million in opioid settlement funding and will fund five separate grants designed to address recovery, training and research and evaluation objectives.
Georgia’s Opioid Crisis Abatement Trust is projected to receive $638 million in settlement funding over the next 18 years, according to a Trust news release.
The signing ceremony was held on the campus of Georgia Southern University immediately prior to the University of Maine vs. Georgia Southern football game on Sept. 20.
