CONEJOS COUNTY, Colo. — Two hunters found dead last week in Colorado's San Juans died from a lightning strike, the coroner said Monday.

On Friday, Conejos County Coroner Richard Martin said there were no obvious signs of trauma but that an autopsy was expected to be done in El Paso County to determine what caused the deaths of Andrew Porter and Ian Stasko. As a result, it was determined that both died from a lightning strike.

The pair, both from out of state and 25 years old, set out from the Rio del los Pinos trailhead last week. GPS coordinates obtained from a Garmin InReach satellite communication device pinpoint where the two went between Sept. 7 and Sept 11.
