Does Kirk statue belong at New College?
I read about a proposal to install a statue of the late Charlie Kirk at New College of Florida.
I am having some difficulty understanding how that could be legally permissible in the current circumstances.
It is my belief such a statue could not be legally erected just because the financing of it would come from private money.
The money may be private, but the land on which New College sits is public – and on such public land, the Constitution of the United States applies. It is my view that political partisans have no inherent right to install controversial statues on public land when such statues arguably would violate the equal protection of laws or due process of laws mandates of the 14 th Amendment.
