ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - The St. Louis County Police Department (SLCPD) is investigating the accidental death of an 8-year-old boy.
According to officials, the incident happened on Sunday, Sept. 21, in the 1130 block of Larimore Road, in which the child was playing on a backyard swing when it collapsed.
The child, who has now been identified as Cortez Williams Jr., was trapped beneath the crossbar, officials say.
SLCPD also said that family members were able to free Williams Jr., and it appeared that he had sustained “minor injuries.” However, the minor became unresponsive and was taken to the hospital, where he later passed away.
