He might drool more than your average soldier and spend most of his day napping, but Specialist Rocky holds a place of honor among the ranks of the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division.

The 2-year-old English bulldog is the first live mascot at Fort Stewart in Georgia, carrying on the legacy of the famed “Dog Face Soldiers.” With his unmistakable underbite and signature uniform, Rocky serves as a living symbol of pride, morale, and history for the unit known as the “Rock of the Marne.”

“He’s the star of the show,” said Jessica Rodriguez, Rocky’s handler, who also serves as the base’s Chief of Protocol and is a Marine veteran. “I’m completely invisible. It’s all about Rocky.”
