New and returning Clark College students lined up at one of the school’s coffee joints to pass the time before class on the first day of fall term Monday.

Clark staff and student ambassadors welcomed students, offered help finding classrooms and answered questions. Blue tables with resources and information were stationed throughout the campus for students to easily find.

“There is something about the start of the fall term,” President Karin Edwards said. “It sets the tone for the academic year. And so when you get that good energy and the good vibes going, you’re going to carry that through the year.”

As of Sunday’s preliminary data, 8,962 students were enrolled this fall term, compared with 8,770 students last fall, said Cecelia Martin, Clark’s associate vice president of planning and
