OTSEGO, Mich — The Otsego Police Department announced Monday that charges have been filed in connection to the fire that destroyed the Northside Park playground .

The playground was completely engulfed in flames overnight on Tuesday, Sept 2, when first responders were called to the scene.

They were able to put out the blaze, but the damage had been done. Police began investigating the incident as possible arson.

Now, charges have been filed against a 37-year-old man from Otsego. He's facing a charge of third-degree Arson, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Habitual 4th offense, according to the police department.

The suspect was already in custody on separate charges, according to authorities, and will be arraigned on the new charges in the coming days.
