Sylvia Rhone, who has changed the face of the music industry with career-defining roles, will step down as Chair/CEO of Epic Records, effective at the end of the month, Billboard has revealed. She was promoted to the role in 2019.
Rhones has consistently been celebrated for breaking barriers in the music industry and for developing and promoting major artists across various genres during her four decades in the industry. At Epic, she spearheaded the paths of Future, Travis Scott, Tyla and more to chart-topping success.
EBONY covered her first appointment at EPIC in 2014 when she was appointed president of the label. The appointment came a year after Rhone launched Vested in Culture (VIC), her joint venture with Epic. VIC will remain an imprint of the label.
