Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa distanced himself from some of the Trump administration’s immigration policies on Monday, saying he only supports its efforts to deport criminals.

Speaking with NY1’s Annika Pergament on “The Rush Hour,” Sliwa said his and President Donald Trump’s views on immigration arrests at courthouses diverge.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been detaining immigrants at courthouses across the country for months, including at 26 Federal Plaza in Lower Manhattan.

Last week, more than a dozen city officials and lawmakers — and dozens of other demonstrators — were arrested inside and outside 26 Federal Plaza while protesting conditions at the building, as well as Trump’s ongoing immigration crackdown.
