MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis mom has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and child endangerment after police say she intentionally hit the father of her children with her Mercedes while the kids were in the car.
It does not appear that the two children, ages one and two, or their father were hurt in the Sept. 14 incident, but Kira Newsom, 32, was booked in the Shelby County Jail Monday on an arrest warrant. She was also charged with reckless driving.
According to investigators, Newsom drove to the victim's home in the 2900 block of Southwall Street, began honking her horn and yelling for her children's father to come outside.
The victim said she threatened him, saying, "you gonna stop playing with me," drove away, and returned seconds later and ran him down with her vehicle.
