PEORIA, Ill. – A judge has ordered a man to remain in jail after allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend in July in South Peoria, to prove his love to his current girlfriend.

The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 23-year-old Jaquan Timothy was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm after he was arrested last Thursday, and a hearing held on Monday.

Police responded after shots were fired in the area of Starr and Westmoreland in the early morning hours of July 19th, finding a victim with gunshot wounds to her feet.

The current girlfriend reportedly told police Timothy told her he would shoot his ex-girlfriend before the shooting, and that Timothy told her he carried it out.
