PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A man will remain in jail after allegedly shooting his ex in order to prove his love for his new girlfriend.
Jaquon Timothy, 23, was ordered held by a Peoria County judge on a charge of aggravated battery with a firearm, said Peoria County State's Attorney Office spokeswoman Semone Roth.
If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
Officers with the Peoria Police Department were called at 1:21 a.m. to the 2300 block of West Starr Street on a 12-round ShotSpotter alert, according to police spokesperson Semone Roth at the time.
When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been shot in both of her feet, and transported her to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Roth said.
