GRAND HAVEN, MI - The city of Grand Haven has approved a land-lease agreement with the developer of Chinook Pier.

The 35-year lease with Copper Rock Construction began immediately after the Grand Haven City Council approved the agreement during its Sept. 15 meeting. The decision came one day shy of a year since the city approved Copper Rock to develop the city’s property that sits on the Grand River.

The city still has to approve a development agreement before construction can begin in spring 2026.

City Manager Ashley Latsch said Copper Rock plans to develop the property into three commercial buildings ― a restaurant, an office and retail building, and an indoor/outdoor market facility.
