BIG RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, MI – An 89-year-old man died from his injuries after a two-vehicle crash Monday in Mecosta County.
According to the county sheriff’s office, deputies were called at around 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, to the intersection of 15 Mile Road and 220th Avenue.
After an investigation of the site, police said two vehicles collided when a westbound vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old Big Rapids woman, pulled out in front of the man as he was crossing 15 Mile on 220th.
The 89-year-old, also from Big Rapids, sustained fatal injuries, while the woman was taken to Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies were assisted on scene by Big Rapids Fire and Rescue, Mecosta County EMS, and the Mecosta County Posse volunteer group.
