STRASBURG — Following last summer’s flooding at Strasburg Community Library that devastated the basement bookstore, Strasburg’s mayor and town council are once again paying it forward.

The library ended up with 18 inches of water in the basement due to Tropical Storm Debbie.

“We lost about 3,000 books, all of our bookshelves and obviously, we had mold and the walls were destroyed,” said Operations Manager Amy Jett. “As a result, we had to do some fundraising and reach out to the community so that we could raise money to remediate the basement.”

Town Council and Mayor Brandy Hawkins Boies came up with the idea of raffling off a smoker and a basket filled with accessories donated by community businesses.
