SHASTA LAKE, Calif. — The Shasta County Sheriff's Office conducted a DUI and driver's license checkpoint on Friday, September 20, in Shasta Lake. The initiative aimed to reduce impaired driving in the area.
During the checkpoint, deputies spoke with 638 drivers, conducted six DUI evaluations, made one DUI arrest, and issued seven citations for other violations. DUI saturation patrols were also conducted nearby.
The Sheriff's Office emphasized that impaired driving isn't limited to alcohol. Prescription and over-the-counter medications can also affect driving ability. While marijuana use is legal in California, driving under its influence remains illegal.
