Council officers have refused plans that would have seen the creation of a 24/7 coffee shop drive-thru. EG on the Move, who run the new petrol station on Acklam Road , had hoped to open an accompanying coffee shop on vacant land next to the existing site - a plot which is on the corner of Burlam Road and Acklam Road.

Plans submitted in July generated a number of objections from local residents and a councillor, who were all ardently against the plans, highlighting a number of concerns, including light pollution and traffic, as well as worries about litter and antisocial behaviour.
