FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A Fort Wayne Police Department officer was stabbed Monday, northwest of downtown Fort Wayne.

FWPD Public Information Officer says police were responding to reports of a domestic dispute at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of St. Mary’s Avenue.

While officers were responding, one officer was stabbed.

An officer fired their service weapon in response, striking someone in the area. Police could not confirm if the person shot was the one who stabbed the officer.

The officer who was stabbed was taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
