HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - With less than three weeks until the Eversource Hartford Marathon, here is some advice about what runners should and shouldn’t do in these final days before the race.
Runners will head to the starting line in Hartford on October 11th to run the full marathon, a leg of the marathon relay, the half marathon, or the 5k.
Dr. Jeff Brown of St. Francis Hospital is offering his top five pieces of advice in the lead up to race day.
“Don’t do anything new the week before the race. Brand new shoes can cause unwanted foot pain. Different foods or new types of hydration might upset your stomach,” Dr. Brown said.
If you need new shoes, Dr. Brown says you should get them 3 to 4 weeks before the race to start breaking them in.
