CAYCE, S.C. (WIS) -A $615,000 beautification project is set to begin in the coming weeks along Airport Boulevard, a key gateway for travelers entering and leaving the Columbia area via Columbia Metropolitan Airport.
The project, which includes the installation of 4,000 new plants and 40,000 square feet of grass, aims to revitalize the stretch of road with flowers, trees and shrubbery. City officials say the goal is to make a strong first impression for visitors and improve the experience for locals.
“It’s the first thing you see after leaving the airport,” said Jan Zeigler, who lives off Airport Boulevard. “Many times we’ve stood on the side of the road and watched presidents come through, and it’s just not a good look.”
