Could major renovations be coming to the Riverchase Galleria?

On Monday night, Hoover City Council members met to hear the results from a market study on the long-standing mall. According to the city, the study includes research on the area's residential, hospitality, and retail markets. This could be valuable information as city leaders set their sights on revitalizing the mall and the area around it.

The almost empty parking lots at the 39-year-old Riverchase Galleria tell the story. There are some shoppers inside the almost 2 million-square-foot mall, but not enough for several stores that now sit empty. Hoover resident Ray Thornton says they rarely shop there.
