GRANITE QUARRY — Visitors at the Old Stone House in Granite Quarry were transported back a quarter millennia on Saturday.
Germanfest, set against the backdrop of the historic home, showcases Rowan County’s rich immigrant history. The event is not billed as a traditional Oktoberfest, although a collaboration with New Sarum Brewing in Salisbury did provide beer on tap.
As promoted by the Rowan Museum, visitors could expect tours of the colonial-era Michael Braun house as well as demonstrations from re-enactors and information booths about the time period.
