HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Connecticut Department of Corrections (DOC) officer accused of strangling a woman and kidnapping his two young sons in Newington appeared in court on Monday.

The woman was reunited with her two children after the domestic disturbance that happened just after noon on Sunday. Police said they do have a small history with the house, but it is not directly related to domestic violence between 36-year-old John Lacen-Romero and his wife.

Lacen-Romero's defense representation revealed that his client is a military veteran who also suffers from PTSD. The state prosecutor also alleges an electrical wire in the shape of a noose was found in the home.
