SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Emergency crews in Ozark responded to a 911 call after a runner got bitten by a copperhead on Friday.

It happened near the Ozark Career Center. Turns out, that runner was former KY3 anchor & reporter Sara Forhetz, and she recalls that encounter very well.

“I was on a paved trail and there was a copperhead coming from the grass onto the pavement,” Forhetz said. “And, I did not see him moving in the grass because I was just looking at the pavement.”

The snake bit the inside of her left foot. After recognizing the Hershey Kiss pattern on its skin, Forhetz did the right thing by calling 911 right away and taking a picture of the snake for her eventual visit to the hospital.
