Newnan wasted no time Friday night, striking on its first possession and never letting up in a 34-6 home win over Morrow.
Freshman quarterback Banks Barnett connected with junior Eli Pittman for a 59-yard touchdown on the Cougars’ opening drive. Senior kicker Quint Johnson added a 41-yard field goal to make it 10-0.
Junior running back Jaylin Britt extended the lead with a 16-yard scoring run, and Newnan carried a 17-0 advantage into halftime.
The Cougars stayed in control in the second half, starting the third quarter with a 20-yard Johnson field goal.
