CARTERVILLE — When it comes to the number of years dedicated to John A. Logan College, it's hard to beat Jerry Bechtel's track record.

"He loved working with young people," his wife, Sandra Bechtel, said. "He was a giving person. He was always out to help young people however they needed help.
