BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Changes could be coming to Birmingham’s ride share service.
The City of Birmingham operates its own micro-transit downtown through a $2.5 million contract with the company Via.
Under a new proposal, that contract would be moved to the Birmingham Jefferson County Transit Authority.
Leaders say the move would allow the program to qualify for more federal money without changing the experience for riders.
The full city council will consider the proposal during their meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
