TUCKER, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A plan to expand pickleball in Tucker is generating division, as residents weigh the popular sport’s growth against growing noise concerns.

On Monday night, city officials presented the results of a professional sound study evaluating proposals for new or expanded pickleball courts at Tucker Recreation Center, Henderson Park and Rosenfeld Park. The report comes after months of heated community debate over the distinct “popping” sound created by paddles striking balls — a sound some residents say is disruptive near their homes.

The city commissioned PSM Consulting — short for Pickleball Sound Mitigation — to assess the noise impact at each location and recommend solutions.
