A driver has been freed from the wreckage of a truck which crashed off a bridge in Queensland .

The B-double truck appeared to have crashed down an embankment while driving on Yandina Coolum Rd bridge which crosses over the Bruce Hwy at Yandina about 10.30am on Tuesday.

The driver was found trapped in the wreckage, which spanned the length of the embankment, when Queensland Fire Department crews arrived.

Fire crews used cutting gear to gain access to the damaged cab.

The driver, a man aged in his 50s, was freed about 12.05pm.

Paramedics said the man is still being assessed on scene for leg and pelvic injuries and is expected to be taken to hospital.

Emergency services vehicles have blocked the bridge, with police urging motorists to avoid the area.
