A Palestinian academic who tweeted he wanted Zionists "executed" is “no longer employed” by the University of Sydney.

A university spokesperson confirmed biology lecturer Fahad Ali - who tweeted in June "F*** sanctions, I want Zionists executed like we executed Nazis” – is no longer working there.

"We can confirm Mr Fahad Ali is no longer employed by the University,” a spokesperson said.

However, in a major blow to transparency, the taxpayer-funded institution refused to clarify whether it had sacked Mr Ali or whether he had left of his own accord.
